Pandora Digital Presentation

The way in which Pandora display their online presence in their promotional booklets is very professional, it is concise yet allows the audience to easily see what is on offer to them. I think the way in which Pandora display their website pages is particularly effective. I want to try to use this style of presentation within my design boards.

National Trust Shop

I want to propose my cards are sold in National Trust shops around the country, in-store and online.

e-card research

I was going to propose that with everyone of my RSA greetings card, the buyer also recieves one free ecard. However, I wasn't really sure what an e-card entailed and after looking, I have found that are pretty much just short animations. Animation is not an area of design I wish to delve into, so I am going to leave that simply as a design idea!

Seed Packet Instructions

I am looking at seed instructions and how to inform people to plant seeds, I realised I had a packet of seeds that my brother gave me so I had a little look to see how they explain the steps.

These instructions are simple and to the point. I like the fact that they make it fun by the addition of the '5 salad facts'.

Notebook Pattern

I want to produce a pattern to be printed on the seeded paper inset that the user can then colour in, so I have been looking at a few geometric patterns to inspire my own design

The National Trust

I took a trip to a National Trust Park on Saturday, here at the visitors shop they were selling cards. I made me consider the fact that I could sell my RSA cards in a place like this. I would be targeting the correct audience; people who care about the environment and want to help preserve the natural landscape.

Seed Planters

I have been thinking that I will produce the instructions to accompany the lasercut greeting card designs on a seed planter rather than just a piece of cardboard (I will rework this into the notebook design too). This will enable people to locate their shrub once they have planted the seeded paper. I wanted to look at the various formats which this could take...

I will have to make one thicker than this in order for it to be able to incorporate all of the instructions I need, but the main shape will still be present.

A sustainable method of delivery

If I am going to produce a considered sustainable design, then I need to consider how I can also create a sustainable method of delivery. Using a device such as a bike would be one way in which I can do just this.

IKEA instructions

Phil suggested to me in my tutorial that I look at the IKEA instruction manuals as I should use visuals alongside my instructions for the use of the plantable seeded paper. I have found it highly interesting looking at these manuals as they contain little, or no text. Therefore, I want to keep my text to a minimum and concentrate of small, simple pictures. In doing so, this will enable me also to reacha larger target audience and not restrict my product.

In my crit, it was said that my instructions on how to plant the seeded paper needed to be made clearer so I have research into the instructions given to consumers of seeded paper...

RSA: Card Stock

I want to use natural brown recycled card, as this can then be recycled after. I have had a little look and found that the craft shop in Leeds sells some. I want the cards to be square format as it will make them a little different to the usual, also it remains sustainable as the size they are utilize the who of an A size page.

I also found these card on ebay. Although they are more expensive you would effectively be buying  in bulk so it would work out cheaper per card.

Symbol Sourcebook

I used this symbol sourcebook as inspiration for creating my own symbols to visualise my instructions for my RSA cards. I was looking particularly in the agriculture section seen as the instructions were to do with planting seeds...

GF Smith paper

This playful use of paper is something I want to captivate within my designs. I want to use the paper to create interesting designs rather than using harmful printing and inks.

Fresh

A lot of my design use a very basic one or two colour scheme and this is becoming my design style. This pair of trainers provides an example of how I see this within my design work; I have a white blank canvas with something beautifully crafted on it (i.e type or imagery) so I then do not want to bombard this and overshadow the design with lots of colour and extra clutter that isn't necessary. Therefore, in my eyes, I see it necessary to use minimal colour in order for the focus to remain on what is important in the design. Nevertheless, this colour must be well considered and work in relation to the design.

Greyboard is Green!

Thinking of different stocks I could use for my notebook and I thought greyboard could look good if people were then enticed to colour their own design on the inserted poster in order to produce colour on the notebook.

Pattern Research

I want to produce a pattern that the consumer can then colour in, using the pencils provided, so I took a trip to the library to look at some pattern books for a little inspiration

Two Sides

I came across this website when researching for sustainable paper choices to use inside my notebooks. I found it highly interesting to research about the facts and myths of paper. I also found it useful that it was highlighted that paper has two sides and both should be used. Definitely something to consider for my designs.

A pattern within type

As my product needs to be a communication tool in order to persuade the viewer to change, I have thought that it may interesting to work with placing a pattern within type. In doing this, it will provide visuals as well as communicate a message.
